Pre-K through 12 & Post Grad School Planning

Cultivating whole student development means finding the right school

Education's transformative power discovered

Searching for the right independent day or boarding school where your child can thrive is a critical undertaking for both their present and future well-being and success. That’s why we develop genuine relationships with families like yours to explore a range of educational settings until together we discover the school where your child’s particular strengths, interests, potential and needs will be properly promoted.

Boarding Schools

For nearly seven decades, McMillan Education has helped students and families experience the unique advantages of a boarding school education. In addition to their excellent academics, small class sizes and favorable student-faculty ratios that characterize boarding schools’ personalized guidance, the boarding school experience provides distinct opportunities for student growth.

Day Schools

For some of our families, the independent day school journey begins as early as pre-kindergarten. From there, families seek our guidance at the multiple natural points of next-school planning for elementary, middle and high school, or upon realizing that their child’s current school, whether public or private, is not the right educational fit. Regardless of the child’s age, day school planning is a demanding, intricate process that takes place in a highly competitive environment, making expert guidance all the more important.

Our Unique Expertise & Relationships

Our unrivaled expertise in admission best practices, child and adolescent development, and deep knowledge of the schools themselves sets us apart from the rest of the field. While we expertly guide students toward schools that best fit them, we closely aid in the seamless execution of the full application process using our W.I.S.E. Method of Educational Planning™. We also have the unique privilege of working closely with admission offices that trust our knowledge of students generally, as well as those we represent in the admissions process.

Our School Planning Specialties

Learning Differences

Many of our students, regardless of age, benefit from our deep knowledge of learning differences, specialized schools, or mainstream environments that offer them the right kind of academic support to meet their needs.

International

While many of our international students wait until college to experience U.S. education, others are eager to begin their journey earlier, attending a wide variety of junior and secondary boarding schools.

Developmental Crisis

Our therapeutic placement counselors are also school planning experts, often helping families find a supportive mainstream school that supports their child’s academic, social and emotional needs their current school can’t address or following some level of intensive treatment.

Athletics

Whether you’re a serious athlete hoping one day to play at the collegiate level, a post-graduate candidate looking to up your recruiting options, or someone who just loves to compete, our school planning counselors know the athletic landscape of the multiple day and boarding school leagues where our students fulfill their athletic potential and thrive as student-athletes.
