Amy Christie, M.A.

Educational Counselor

While Amy brings over 15 years as a college counselor in independent schools to her work guiding McMillan Education families, her experience encompasses knowledge of the distinctive opportunities and complexities posed by a wide range of college- and graduate school-bound students, from the high achieving traditional student to the student with learning differences. Amy is also an expert in college counseling with international students being educated abroad who come from all over the world and are seeking university placement in both U.S. and international university. In addition to serving as director of the college counseling offices at Dexter Southfield School and Chapel Hill Chauncy Hall School in the Greater Boston area, Amy spent eight years as a college counselor and English teacher in London at TASIS, The American School in England. She also held the positions of English teacher, coach and dorm supervisor at Culver Academies in Culver, Indiana and English teacher at Stratford Academy in Macon, Georgia. Amy’s day and boarding school experience as a teacher and administrator informs her work in counseling students towards the educational fit that best fits their interests, strengths, passions and needs.

Amy brings her discernible warmth and signature active listening to her work with everyone — colleagues, students and families alike. In addition to her college and graduate program admission expertise, Amy enjoys helping young adults sort through options after college, and has guided them towards a variety of graduate school options, including business, law and medical school. She also finds working with transfer students extremely fulfilling.

Amy earned her bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish from Washington and Lee University and a master’s degree in English from Middlebury College. She enjoys drawing on her extensive training and background as a teacher of Literature and writing as she guides students through the process of crafting meaningful and powerful essays for college applications.

Amy and her husband, also an educator who teaches at an independent school, live in the Worcester area and are kept busy by their three school-aged children. In addition to spending time with her family, Amy loves reading, crafts, yoga and spending time on the beach on Cape Cod in her spare time.
