She immediately stepped into the wardrobe and got in among the coats. It was almost quite dark in there and she kept her arms stretched out in front of her so as not to bump her face into the back of the wardrobe. If Lucy had never opened the doors of that big old wardrobe, she and her siblings never would have discovered Narnia. And, if you never set up and open your college application portals, you’ll never discover the results of your applications! Now that I have your attention, please read the crucial information below:
SENIORS!
- After you submit an application, you’ll receive an email within a few days with instructions for how to create your magical, mystical portal to another world. If you want to see what lies ahead in that magical world (like if the college has received your application, transcript, and teacher recommendations), then you must open the portal! Also, this is where the colleges will post their decisions eventually. No portal, no decision. And, no magical fantasy world.
- Check your email once a day!!!!! I’ve seen students miss very important personal messages from colleges – interview offers, information about changes, time-sensitive questions – because they went days, even weeks, without checking their email.
- SRAR/STARS – Self-reported Academic Record or Transcript – Some colleges and universities will require you to report your high school classes and grades after you submit your application – again, via the portal. You must monitor your mail and portals and report this information (usually fairly promptly) in order for your application to be reviewed. You must not neglect this important step!
Once you’ve read the tips listed above and cultivated a healthy habit of checking your email and portals daily, then you can confidently move ahead in your journey.
