Jamie Paul

Educational Counselor

Jamie enjoys working with students of all ages, from elementary school through college, who are taking either a traditional or non-traditional path on their educational journey. Jamie’s extensive experience as an educator uniquely qualifies him for working with students with a wide range of skills, interests and abilities, from the gifted to the learning challenged, the accomplished athlete, artist or musician, or the student who has experienced some crisis or disruption to his or her educational path and requires a creative problem solving approach to educational planning.

During his 25 years as an educator, Jamie has showcased his breadth of knowledge and expertise in teaching as an instructor of English, history, geography, world religions, and math at the Bancroft School in Worcester, Massachusetts, St. Margaret’s Episcopal School in San Juan Capistrano, California, and the Purnell School in Pottersville, New Jersey. More recently, Jamie was a mentor of teachers as the Dean of Faculty at the Hillside School, a school for boys with mild to moderate learning differences, outside of Boston. Jamie’s expertise in admission practices comes through his collaboration with admission offices in the schools in which he has served. Jamie employs his outstanding skill as a teacher of writing in his exceptional work guiding students crafting their personal narratives in the application process. He is passionate about and exceptionally skilled at connecting students to their unique stories as a means of guiding them toward their best-fit schools and colleges.

A native of California, Jamie attended Corona del Mar High School, where he was student body president. He went on to attend Harvard University, where he concentrated his studies in The Comparative Study of Religion, played Division I Men’s Varsity Tennis, and served as a peer counselor. Since his collegiate years, Jamie has served as the Head Tennis Professional during summers at the Tarratine Club of Dark Harbor, Maine, and been a highly successful tennis coach at the schools where he has served. He has also initiated and run robust community service programs for his students.

Jamie lives outside of Boston with his wife, Catherine, who is also an educator. He and Catherine are parents of a young adult daughter who is an aspiring musician and a young adult son teaching English as a Second Language in France. In his spare time, Jamie continues to play tennis, is passionate about health and wellness, and serves as a volunteer in a wide array of community outreach programs.
